GVA Grimley Appointed to Market Taymouth Castle, Scotland

London, England - Property consultants GVA Grimley has been appointed by Blair Nimmo and Gary Fraser, of KPMG Joint Administrators of the Taymouth Group Ltd to market Taymouth Castle and estate which lies near the village of Kenmore, at the east end of Loch Tay, Perthshire, Scotland.

Taymouth Castle, located 62 miles east of Edinburgh, is a spectacular Grade A listed building on the banks of the River Tay. Set in a 425 acre estate and dating back to the 1550's, the castle remains one of Scotland's best kept secrets.

Today, the estate currently benefits from full planning consent as proposed by Taymouth Group Ltd for a £74 million redevelopment programme. Consent includes development of a six star 72 suite hotel and spa within the castle itself, 79 new residential units , 26 additional fractional ownership homes, an equestrian centre and significant improvements to the existing James Braid designed 18-hole golf course.

The castle and estate are steeped in history. Originally built as the chieftain's seat to the Campbell clan, the Earl of Breadalbane extended and remodelled it in the mid 19^th century. Some of Europe's finest designers were commissioned to create outstanding internal features including Francis Bernasconi and AWN Pugin (famed for his work on the Houses of Parliament). The castle has played host to a number of illustrious visitors including Queen Victoria and Prince Albert in 1842.
